Kynd's end of the year Quote

Eisenhower wrote his brother Edgar on May 2, 1956:

"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again.... There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. Among them are H.L. Hunt...a few other Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or businessman from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid."

Their number is neither small nor are they stupid. Their number is large and they are in charge. On top of that they have managed to find a way to shortcut/undermine our election process so that we the people (read 'underdogs'/middle class/poor) may never again be in a position of power to stop them. There is much to be feared here.

Wanda, unwrap the tin foil from your head. You liberals kill me sometimes, you know Social Security is broke yet you stick your collective heads in the sand and criticize. Try coming up with solutions...viable solutions that work. I haven't seen anything from you folks.

Moore-on...Social Security is fine the way it is. It is not broke like your leader says. You are buying into the crap.
As far as options of "fixing" SS when will you come up with a viable solution? wWe liberals are waiting to see anything from the regime that is successful.

C'mon Lib, even your boy Clinton wanted to fix SS. Things are different today, there used to be 20 something people to every SS recipient, now it's somewhere around 6-7 to 1, (my numbers might be slightly off) hardly a solvent proposition. SS was always meant to stand alone and not be propped by Gov't subsidies. Even the most conservative of private accounts will yield more to the SS recipient than currently available, and if it's voluntary, what do you care?

How can you say it will yeild more?? Do you have an inside tip on the stock market (if there is one) 20 years from now? Do you know how 401K plans work? The current system would be viable if it were not for the tax-cut scams for the wealthy.
Face it, we are in the middle of another failed right-wing economy.

I forgot to mention...why should we be forced to prop up corporations by investing in stocks and bonds? I don't like the fact that numerous corporations invest in terrorist-funding corporations in the first place. I am very picky where I invest and, I don't have a dime invested in any of the aforementioned corporations.

SS has become something it was never intended to be. I'll simply underscore my last question, "IF it's voluntary, what do you care?"

Seeing how it is 'hard work' to educate yourself, here is why I care:

Here's what the Bush plan will mean for your retirement:

* If you retire in 2022, Bush will cut your benefits by almost 10 percent.
* If you retire in 2042, Bush will cut your benefits by more than 25 percent.
* In 2075, our children and grandchildren will face a staggering cut of 46 percent to their benefits.

And this is just the first step of the Republican Party's plan to dismantle the entire Social Security system that has kept generations of America's seniors out of poverty. Soon Bush will launch a $40 million TV ad blitz to convince Americans that our grandkids will be left out in the cold if Social Security is not privatized. Which, by the way, is total bullshit. But, bullshit is the main course in the republican agenda.

Bullshit like your numbers! C'mon lib, where'd you get those from? James Carville? Come back to the light lib, come back to the light..

I got those numbers of of a government site, one that little bushitler hasn't spun all the data on. Have you seen the site where he changed the history of the founding fathers?? Bad part is...a bunch of righties will believe it. What a shame.

Look it up....those aren't 'my' numbers. They are linked on another blog I write for.
