It's not about Terry Schiavo and never was or will be...

I am not going to get into my personal feelings or an ethics discussion about right to die. What I want to say here is simply this. The Terry Schiavo case that is before our legislators today is a downright DANGEROUS precedent.

They are using an overly emotional issue to subvert the simple fact that our legislative branch is trying to take away power from our judiciary. The Schiavo case has been adjudicated in our court system for over twelve years. The rulings are always the same. The woman's husband has the right to remove her feeding tube. The US Supreme Court has twice refused to intervene in this case. Where the bloody hell do our legislators get off thinking that their grandstanding, political posturing is in anyway keeping with the system of checks and balances we are supposed to have guaranteed by our constitution.

Terry Schiavo has ceased to become a human being, setting aside every hypocritcal statement made by Tom Delay.... she has become the rope in a political struggle of power. The power to remove the judiciary from the equation.

So the joint session passes their legislation, Bush signs the law. They will reinsert the feeding tube. Monday morning the Federal Bench, who is embroiled in a battle of wills with the Legislative Branch will rule the law unconstitutional and the tube will be removed again, and so on and so forth until what? Until this poor woman's esophagus rips or swells shut and she can't breath or eat and will die in the most inhumane and cruel way I can possible imagine, by choking on her own blood and bile.

This has to stop.

Be disturbed, be very disturbed.

Its just one more step toward Totalitarianism. I am convinced more and more everyday that the NeoCons think THEY know what is best for all of us. They think we are stupid. They want us to quitely accept Totalitarianism as a solution to our current problems.

I agree with you! In fact, I've been so mad about this whole Republican spin mess that I just created my own blog! I've never even posted to a blog before tonight!

Once again, the Repub's want to enter our bedrooms and most sacred areas of our lives. You know Jeb will be running for President in 2008 - it's all about politics!

Look for me and my comments and hopefully comments from around Georgia and the Nation at:

how odd, the comments have become nothing more than a place to pimp your blog. Guess we don't have anything good to comment on so we just pimp our own blogs.

For once I agree with you, that this isn't about Terri in the least bit, it's just a political move to try and subvert the judicial branch and it should be stopped.

If Terri is to die, at least afford her the dignity we give to hideous criminals, a leathal injection... at least that's humane!
