John Bolton and the UN

This could effect all of us in the long run. The UN is instrumental in thwarting nuclear threats across the globe. And we need all the countries we can get on our side to combat fundamental religious extremists around the globe (and at home). I'm sure most of you are familiar with the UN bashing quote attributed to John Bolton:
"If the UN secretary building in New York lost ten stories, it wouldn’t make a bit of difference." and "the Europeans can be sure that America’s days as a well-bred doormat for EU political and military protection are coming to an end." Mr. Bolton is also a signatory to the Neo-Conservative think tank, PNAC For these reasons, John Bolton is the wrong choice for the US Ambassador to the United Nations.

You may or may not be aware; this week the Senate is conducting hearings to approve GWB's nomination of John Bolton as the US ambassador to the United Nations. This man is a nightmare and threatens world peace. Below is a list of all the members on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee - please try to contact them and tell them to reject this man's nomination. I put the ones who are likely to vote against Bolton toward the bottom, so contact the ones at the top of the list first.

When you call, please be polite and don't use any foul language no matter how much you may be tempted to mouth off. There is nothing I want more then to tell half of these assholes off. When you call Barbara Boxer thank her for her courage to stand up and speak the truth (she's a hero). Senator Kerry is also doing a good job by sponsoring an ad to try to convince Senator Chafee, Republican of Rhode Island, to vote against John Bolton as well.

You could call by phone or even better, you could construct a short simple letter and send it to all of them. Here's an example:

Dear Senator (insert name),

I am greatly concerned about the Nomination of John Bolton as US Ambassador to the United Nations. I find him scary and too extreme for this important position. To quote John Danforth "A lot of people have criticized the United Nations, especially recently, and they've a lot to criticize in the United Nations, the oil-for-food issue, the problem of abuses by peacekeepers especially in the Congo, and there will always be things to criticize. But those points of criticism did not detract, from the essential value of the United Nations. He went on to say: "The United Nations is important for the welfare and the stability of the world. We have a concept in our own country called checks and balances, which is a governmental concept, but it is very important that the stronger you are, to be a country that listens and that takes on board the views of others even though we may not end up agreeing with those views."

Anti-Americanism is at an all time high. And even our European allies are turning our backs on us. It is more important than ever to appoint the right person for the job. Please, do not vote for John Bolton.

Thank you for your time.

Thanks for this Amy.

I emailed all of the people on the committee today. I am confident that the Democrats will do right but, the scum can't be trusted.

They have their heads to far up bush's ass.

no kidding.
it seems like a such a waste of energy to even try, but I'm not giving up. I want them to know there are many people who are not happy. I think Chafee wants to vote no; but he's getting a lot of pressure from the republiscum.

Love your site. You should drop in on the Comments site at the DNC blog. I think you would find a lot of like-minded people and a few trolling reds.

I read something very interesting today regarding John Bolton, the UN and Iraq. Iraq wants the US to be a key influence in their "new" country. This is worth mentioning because it conflicts with Bolton who hates the UN and his cohorts who crafted the War in Iraq: Rumsfeld, Bush, Cheney and Wolfowitz.

This can be added to the growing list of conflicts between the Bush Administration and Iraq.

The UN is definitely a requirement when a criminal enterprise like America's is on the loose.
