Dear ABC

I am disgusted you have decided to allow a hate group, Focus on the Family, to run ads on your network. Only 6 months ago you rejected ads from United Church of Christ, because of their inclusive policy towards gays. I am appalled by this and I will never watch ABC ever again. The ads seemed harmless, but they allow James Dobson a forum to lure good intentioned people into his ideology and way of thinking. He is the same freak who said a cartoon was endorsing the “homosexual agenda”. Are you going to continue to allow such utter nonsense and intolerant rhetoric to be spewed on your network without question?

Your network is showing increasingly more bias toward ultra-conservative groups and if the network continues to impose a “no controversy” policy towards more liberal, inclusive organizations then you should impose the same standard toward conservative hate mongerers.
Hitler and the nazis were Christian too and cited repeatedly that they were doing the work of God. Should their ideology be given equal time? The puritans also used their religious ideology as an excuse to kill “witches”. Should their ideology be given equal time? Of course not!

Here are some choice quotes of James Dobson:

“[Tolerance is a] kind of watchword of those who reject the concept of right and wrong…. It’s a kind of a desensitization to evil of all varieties. Everything has become acceptable to those who are tolerant.” Focus On The Family radio broadcast, Nov. 4, 1996

“I rarely do political endorsements, but I’m making an exception now to personally endorse Randall Terry because I believe in this man. He’s been a great friend of the family who is now running for election to the U.S. House of Representatives. I wish we had a dozen more like him in Congress.” Endorsement letter for anti-abortion extremist Randall Terry, 1998 (Randall Terry has endorsed murder of abortion doctors and might have been an accomplice in abortion clinic murders.)

“Unfortunately, the terms multiculturalism and diversity have come to have very different meanings when used by the cultural elite. They are a kind of Trojan horse in which to smuggle the concept of moral relativism into the heartland of Western culture.” Solid Answers (Tyndale House Publishers), 1997, p. 537

"Without question in my mind, the greatest danger to our moral perspective and to the family and indeed to the nation is the homosexual activist movement.... Homosexuals want it all. They want everything.… They want it all, and what’s scary about it is they’re getting it all." Address to the Family Research Council Washington Briefing, March 15, 2001 (reported in the May 2001 Church & State)

How is this not hate speech?! Once he’s squashed “the homosexual agenda” who is next on his hit list? He says he is a “person of faith” and “persons of faith” are under attack. What about “persons of faith” or no faith at all who happen to disagree with him? By giving him a voice on your network you are allowing him influence people. That influence has led to many violent deaths, like Matthew Shepard and Shannon Lowney for example. I am not gay, but I would stand up for gay people 7 days a week. I’ve completely had it with the anti-gay rhetoric being spewed on network television every day of the week.

I am through with your network and all of the networks who give James Dobson and people like him a forum to spread their filth. And just so you know I am posting this on my blog and sending this to all of my friends for 1000’s of people to see.

Amy

I'll be sure to pass this along to others. Brandon G.

As a best friend to a young gay man and as a member of the United Church of Christ I would like to take the hypocrisy and bias of the CBS (Corporate Bull Shit) TV Network and fling it back in their hypocritical teeth. This is disgusting!

Tonight I will almost CERTAINLY be watching CBS. Not for program content, but to obtain the names of its evening sponsors. I shall then HANDWRITE letters to those sponsor informing them that their products, like CBS stations, will now be persona nongrata in my house. After tonight this network is banished from my television. Along with it's sister company, Paramount. Pass the remote.

Did you ever listen to ABC Radio?

Mark Levine, a theologist, is like the next Tim McVeigh and Pat Robertson combined!

I was upset about CBS too, but this worse.

Well ABC owns ABC Family, they are all about family values.

Dobson is a moron.

The gay issue is a non-issue so, why do the righties use it??

It's all they have to divert attention from everything else they are failing at which, is every thing they take on.

Filthy, filthy people.
