Weekend Beer Run (and some political info gathering)

I made my seasonal beer run to Bozeman, Montana this weekend. I needed to restock on some of my favorites, Powder Hound, Moose Drool and the new one, Big Sky Crystal Ale from Big Sky Brewery. I also wanted to check out the political scene in a 'red' state and how some folks felt about the chimpman and his lying band of criminals. I was surprised to say the least.

It seems many of the righties I talked to have abandoned the criminal regime and some even changed their political party. But, most surprising was more of those that changed their party affiliation did so because of the Governor, Brian Schweitzer. The folks that changed said they researched the Democratic Party and, without a bunch of spin from friends and family changed because of what the Democratic Party stood for. Some didn't agree with the pro-life issue but, were able to see that it is not a pro-abortion issue that the asshats spin.

Another was gun control. I talked with one ol' boy who had voted repig for years and always was convinced that the left was after his guns. He told me, "I bought this computer and learned how to use it and ya know what, Rob....I couldn't find a god-damned thing that said the Democrats were after my guns. Now, that pisses me off...those lyin' bastards had me convinced you guys were after my guns." I was overjoyed by his term, "lying bastards"...I'm talking about a man in his 60's and a rancher I have known all my life.

I even talked with an outfitter friend of mine who was irate over some attempt to raise licensing fees. Not to sure what that was about but he did blame it on the right-wingers. Anyway, the righties are getting a taste of the fraud, corruption and outright lies that the party they supported are using for political hijacking. And what was the most enjoyable to me was watching these people tell it to me....and they hate admitting they were wrong all along.

Unlike Colorado, where I live, I didn't see one chimp sticker on any vehicle. My truck is plastered with offending stickers and I didn't get the finger one time, unlike in Colorado. I don't know if this points to a significant shift, of any kind, but it does show a changing attitude, in my opinion.

Another observation I made was satellite radio antennas on vehicles. Ever since I installed my Sirius radio I seem to be more in tune with who is and is not listening to satellite radio. I noticed satellite radio antennas in Wyoming and Montana more frequently than I do in Colorado. It would seem that the numbers would favor Colorado, especially around Denver due to volume, but it doesn't on my informal statistical analysis.

I did beat the blizzard home with my 25 cases of beer, learned some things that point positive for America and laughed all the way home remembering the looks on some faces that are always prideful but, in this case, having to admit that they were wrong and that Democrats rock!!

Deep down, I believe Montana is actually blue.
