Iraq Elections a Sham

We already knew this but, now it's official. Iraqi citizens were forced to vote or lose food rations. I am confident that soon, we will hear that they were also told who to vote for (by the very people who rig elections in America).

Some Just Voted for Food

Dahr Jamail

BAGHDAD, Jan 31 (IPS) - Voting in Baghdad was linked with receipt of food rations, several voters said after the Sunday poll.

Many Iraqis said Monday that their names were marked on a list provided by the government agency that provides monthly food rations before they were allowed to vote.

”I went to the voting centre and gave my name and district where I lived to a man,” said Wassif Hamsa, a 32-year-old journalist who lives in the predominantly Shia area Janila in Baghdad. ”This man then sent me to the person who distributed my monthly food ration.”

Mohammed Ra'ad, an engineering student who lives in the Baya'a district of the capital city reported a similar experience. More>>>

The same type of swill was written on 9/4/1967 about the 83% voter turnout in Viet Nam.
Look what it got the Vietnamese and the US. A right-wing quagmire.

On the subject of food rations being withheld for non-voters I followed Progressive patriots link to a story
at http://ipsnews.net/interna.asp?idnews=27256

I found a single sentence that seems to have been left out of PP's account - here it is.

"There has been no official indication that Iraqis who did not vote would not receive their monthly food rations."
Personally I translate that statement to mean that no-one official has said anything about rations/votes or to put it more plainly, the entire story is BS.

I searched around on Google and found nothing else.

Is there any other information on this? Otherwise - Im going to have to conclude that this is just
desperate liberal spin.

There are no less than 2 paragraphs from a person who distributes food.....AFTER they voted.

Comprehension eludes you people doesn't it??

Here is a quote from the first report that come up after I googled. There were 20 pages of links to stories on this.

"But some Iraqis still say they will vote. "I'll vote because I can't afford to have my food ration cut," said Amin Hajar, 52, who owns a small auto garage in Baghdad. "There is a rumour that if we don't vote our ration will be stopped. And if that happened, I and my family would starve to death."

He said that when he picked up his monthly food ration recently, he was forced to sign a form saying he had picked up his voter registration. He believes that the government may use this to track whether he votes or not."

Ask you parents to remove the parental controls....maybe you will have better luck.

YOu have a whole lot of qoutes from people saying they are afraid, but nothing that says anything about a policy that based people food rations on their voting.

I would think that is hte sort of thing that might be piscked u pon by the UN, or maybe even by a Main stream media outlet. But the best you can do is a back water paper that says in the article you present as proof that it didnt happen

Your like all the other tin-hats, using baseless accusations as the proof of your own baseless accusation.

Comprehension doesnt elude me, if it did...Id beleive your bullshit.

I'll believe the Iraqi who wrote it. I don't believe that the MSM would cover it anyway but, I wouldn't know. I don't read, listen or watch the American media. I want to know what is going on, not some sugar-coated republican spin.

So in other words, you only listen to the media that supports your bullshit?

Way to go.

I read news from credible sources that present the entire issue....not just the 'feel good' news the right-wing wants you to hear.
Therefore, there is no MSM in America that is credible. It has to do with regulation and other issues you probably don't know anything about.

So when you said this:
I don't read, listen or watch the American media.

You were just ranting?

Or do you mean you only read secret foriegn newspapers that no one else but you gets to read, so no one can bother you to explain yourself?

Your still full of it.

I think you are the one full of it. I can't believe you don't know of any news sources outside the American main stream farce.....but it wouldn't surprise me....

Drink some more kool-aid.

No matter where you get the story, all you have is a couple of idiots who say they were afraid it would happen.

No one, no where, says it did happen.

You spinning your own story.

From your post

Qoute:
”I went to the voting centre and gave my name and district where I lived to a man,” said Wassif Hamsa, a 32-year-old journalist who lives in the predominantly Shia area Janila in Baghdad. ”This man then sent me to the person who distributed my monthly food ration.”

Ra'ad, 23, said he saw the man who distributed monthly food rations in his district at his polling station. ”The food dealer, who I know personally of course, took my name and those of my family who were voting,” he said. ”Only then did I get my ballot and was allowed to vote.”

Oh my god! horror of horrors, you mean they actaully keep track of who votes where? Just like in America?!?
The same govt employee that handles food rationing was working at the polls? How outrageous!

Qoute:
Hajar told IPS that when he picked up his monthly food ration recently, he was forced to sign a form stating that he had picked up his voter registration. He had feared that the government would use this information to track those who did not vote.

Worst you could say here is someone had to register to vote. It doesnt say he had to sign the form before he got the food, in fact it says the opposite.

Nothing in the article you provide as proof of your claims says anything about people being forced or coerced into voting.

I can only conclude that you are trying to manufacture controversy where there isnt any, or worse, your simply to gullible to notice when someone is using you.

That was one example of the hundreds I found. Get out of lock step with your peers and read.....read....read...it may enlighten you.

There is a great French news agency that reports in real time....you should catch it. People are going to be starting thier day in Baghdad soon.

Now back to your kool-aid.

So you must have been holding back information then?

You purposefully used a reference that was a poor example of your claims for some reason unknown to me?

Maybe it was a strategy? A trick even?
